SYNOPSIS
We're thirteen girls, captive, slave to
our master.
A master we've never seen.
Obedience will become all we know in our shallow
existence. It is the only emotion we're permitted to feel.
When we're bad, we're punished. When we're good,
we're rewarded.
Our scars run deep.
Yet we survive, because we have to...
because
HE teaches us to.
All of us are special, we
feel it with everything we are.
He has us
for a reason, but it's a reason we don't know.
We've
never seen his face, but we know that something deeply broken lies beneath the
darkness. With every touch, with every punishment, we know it.
Then something changed.
He showed me who he truly is.
Now I want him.
I'll
go against everything I know to be with him.
A monster.
My monster.
Loving him is a sin, but a sinner I am. I
won't stop until I see every part of him. Even the parts he keeps locked deep
down inside.
I am Number Thirteen, and this is my
story.
No one said it was pretty, or
right, but it's mine.

There have been so many different reviews about this book. Some people detested it and some people found it to be a work of genius. I found myself pretty much liking it, but I would have liked to see more in certain parts of it.
Read this prologue and you'll see exactly what got me intrigued about this story enough to jump right into it: http://www.thebookbella.com/2014/02/2...

"There has to be a way out. So help me God, if there is, I'll find it." -Number Thirteen
Imagine waking inside a basement with a 13 tattooed to your hand and twelve other girls waking next to. None of you have any recollection of how you got there, who you are, or what your name is. That's a scary horror to realize has become your reality. Until you find out who your captor is. And find out the secrets he keeps. Then he becomes the man you live for.
"Loving him is a sin, of that I'm fully aware. But a sinner I am." -Number Thirteen
I found this book to be very intriguing. I just wish their was more of character development and evolution of William, the captor of Number Thirteen and the other 12 girls. I also was a bit disappointed that there was no epilogue. In a story like this, the epilogue is crucial to bring us full circle, but the books just ends.
"I'm still just a number. An empty meaningless number." -Number Thirteen
Overall, I think people should give this book a try. I'm rating 4 STARS out of 5 STARS. I think it is a wonderful gateway read from emotional romance to really dark romance. I'm definitely a Bella Jewel fan, so I'm glad I read this.
