SYNOPSIS
Mal
Ericson, drummer for the world famous rock band Stage Dive, needs to clean up
his image fast—at least for a little while. Having a good girl on his arm
should do the job just fine. Mal doesn’t plan on this temporary fix becoming
permanent, but he didn’t count on finding the one right girl.
Anne
Rollins never thought she’d ever meet the rock god who plastered her teenage
bedroom walls—especially not under these circumstances. Anne has money
problems. Big ones. But being paid to play the pretend girlfriend to a wild
life-of-the-party drummer couldn’t end well. No matter how hot he is. Or could
it?

"Life's a song, Anne. Let's play." -Mal
If you didn't know, this is the second book in the Stage Dive series. I've read both books and you don't need to read the first to understand the second, but it helps to introduce the band a bit more and get more background info before hopping into
"I might have had one or two photos of Stage Dive on my bedroom wall when I was a teenager. Fine, maybe there were three. Or twelve." -Anne
In Play, we are introduced to a new heroine that wasn't in the previous book. Her name is Anne Rollins, and she is living life as it goes. Sucky job, bland apartment, and super sucky roommate who bailed without paying the rent can add up to a very sucky life. But all that bad luck is about to change when she tags along to a Stage Dive house party and meets the broody Mal Ericson, who's about to change her life. Or make it a little less suckish.
"The man had hooker lips. I shit you not, high cheek bones and one of those notches in his chin. I'd never understood the appeal of those things before. Now I got it." -Anne
After learning that Anne is about to be delivered to the streets with a sign that says Homeless woman walking, he takes the initiative of moving in with her by basically breaking in and delivering his own furniture to the apartment. To say Anne's a bit surprised is kind of an understatement. But as much as Anne needs Mal, Mal's got some serious issues he needs Anne for. And it's up to Anne to be the rock for once.
"I made a mental note to kill him later, once we were alone. Kill him or fuck him, whatevs. My hormones were so confused." -Anne
Overall, I totally enjoyed this book! I thought the first book was great, so getting an ARC of the next book was AWESOME! I recommend this 4 STARS out of 5 STARS read because it's not only super hilarious, but it shows the softer side to some rock stars. And what book lover doesn't want that?!
