This book is neither over the top nor underdeveloped. It's special. You know those books that make you think ALL about how life is too short and too fragile to let things be without making the move to make them the life you want? Yeah that's this book in a nutshell!!
Lailah (btw the spelling is beautiful!) was born with a heart defect. Her whole life she's been protected within these walls of Memorial Hospital and within these walls of her mothers heart, and now she's realizing that at age 22, she's ready to explore what's outside the hospital walls. And she's hoping that her pudding fairy, aka secret admirer, aka Jude will help her find her way. If only Jude wasn't holding onto a dreadful past.
Overall, I found myself LOVING Lailah and Jude. She found her One and he found his second chance. I thought their love story was powerful and spoke well beyond the words on the pages. I'm giving this book 4.5 STARS out of 5 STARS. I would have liked to seen the book move and a bit of a faster pace. It felt a lot longer than it should have, but that's truly my only complaint about this incredible book!
