So meh. I just wasn't sold on this book. It ends in a cliffhanger and my thoughts were... why? By the halfway point in this book I was a bit tired of our hero/heroine. BUT this book does have redeeming qualities. Such as a plot that works, yet it needs fixing up. I've never head of M.N. Forgy before receiving my gifted copy, but I will say that she has some amazing potential.
Dani is woken up one night by her mother because her mom got in a situation and only her father, the Prez of Devil's Dust in California can keep them safe and alive. What Dani thinks is going to be an extended vacation, turns out to be quite the trip when she encounters Sargent-at-Arms Shadow, the man with secrets and a past that could destroy them both. Throw in disapproving fathers and club biotches and we've got ourselves a classic MC novel!
Overall, I just didn't get certain parts to the book. Number one. She has such a horrendous relationship with her mother, so she saves up money in order to escape from her. Legally her mother has no way of accessing the money, yet she wipes her account clean. That didn't make ANY sense to me. Number two. We are 8% in and already she's like he's a player/I feel used, but he HAS NOT done anything to her yet. She's the one that kissed him. I felt like the author was making up this drama/chemistry between our characters when it felt a bit too forced. Those two really stood out for me. That's why I'm giving this book 3 STARS out of 5 STARS.

M.N. Forgy was raised in Missouri where she still lives with her family. She's a soccer mom by day and a saucy writer by night. M.N. Forgy started writing at a young age but never took it seriously until years later, as a stay-at-home mom, she opened her laptop and started writing again. As a role model for her children, she felt she couldn't live with the "what if" anymore and finally took a chance on her character's story.
