Review
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

I'm not a huge fan of love triangles because a lot of times it makes the female really fickle and mean, and I cannot stand that in a character. So going into this book I definitely had some reservations. I'm going to say this was a decent book. The heroine isn't horrid, but she's lost and struggles to make a decision.

We've got one hit wonder Sabrina Walker, who has just been appointed the new interim President of her grandfathers music label. She's been in love with her one time manager Beau since she was a teenager. Now in her twenties, Sabrina is finding her "friends with benefits" situation getting a bit old for her. Here comes Sabrina's new assistant Wade Lawson. Younger than Sabrina he's the breath of fresh air she's been waiting for. So will she find love with Beau or with Wade?

Overall, I think it was a cute story, but not something I'll read again. I'm giving it 3.5 STARS out of 5 STARS because it's just too predictable for me. I think other will like it more than I did. Or I only hope they do.

Excerpt
His ears perked at the sound of clicking high heels coming down the hall and it wasn’t too long before she was in view. Wade wanted to breathe normally, he really did, but it was impossible looking at her. Her strut was enough to give him a stroke. She had a perfect hourglass shape and she wore the right clothes for it. Her curves were like the deliberate paint strokes of an artist. Beautiful. Her gentle brunette waves of hair gleamed auburn under lights and seemed to bounce with her steps just as her ample chest did. When she saw him at the desk a smile overtook her heart-shaped face. Her lips could’ve been drawn by Disney they were so damn perfect. And the sweetest smattering of freckles across her nose and cheeks was enough to do him in. She’s your boss, he told himself.

He’d been telling himself that since the minute he walked into the interview on Friday. He spent the weekend psyching himself up for seeing her again. She’s just pretty, he’d said to the bathroom mirror, you’ve known plenty of pretty women. But she wasn’t just pretty. She wasn’t just anything. She was stunning. And not to mention … she was Sabra.

“Good morning!” Sabrina said cheerily as she came up to the front of his desk. She had two paper cups in her hands and she sat one in front of him. “I didn’t know your drink order so I just got you what I like—Americano.”

He opened his mouth but no words came out. He touched the warm cup and smiled. “Shouldn’t I be the one getting you coffee?” he asked.

“Eh, someday.” She smiled before popping into her office.

Someday, he thought.

Excerpt from Used Release Date 1/19

“I really don’t understand what you see in a slut like me, Greer.” His eyes flash, but I don’t let him argue with me. “But I am grateful.” And on that note, I bring his lips to mine. It’s been so long since we’ve tasted each other. We’ve been “seeing” each other for two weeks. Sweet, platonic dates that have ended with a sexually frustrated Denver.
I moan the instant our lips meet. I meant it to be a quick, reassuring, friendly kiss, since we agreed to refrain from that physical side of our relationship for a while, but my body has other ideas. She knows who’s been responsible for her pleasure in the past, and she wants some of that now.
Threading my fingers through his curls, I pull him in and shift my mouth, fitting my lips to his. My tongue darts out to tease his bottom lip, and he opens for me. “Oh, Greer,” I murmur before teasing him lightly. He’s so wet and so delicious. His now hard length rests against my thigh, and I groan. Oh, I want him. I want him now. “Greer, I want you,” I whisper against his lips before kissing him lightly. “Have you been with anyone else?” I screw my eyes tight because I hope not, but I would understand—we all have needs.
He stiffens against me for a second before he whispers gruffly, “Hell, no. Denver, you’re it for me, you know that.” His tongue tangles with mine, searching, destroying. He pulls back and utters, “I want you too. So bad.”
“Let’s go somewhere,” I coax. “There are lots of little trails for us to go get lost on.”
“Mmm … how ‘bout I make you feel good right here?” He nips at my bottom lip. “Right now?”
“What?” I breathe through my haze. “We might get caught.” He recaptures my lips with his and works me over with his tongue. Suddenly I’m reminded of the time we sneaked off during our prom. Oh my God. It was … mind-blowing. The thrill of getting caught. The thrill of our dates waiting for us in the ballroom of the hotel while we fu*ked each other hard, up against a wall in the housekeeping closet. Yes, please. I want that.
I’m jerked from my thoughts as he pulls me from the truck bed. I latch my legs around his waist, not certain where we are going, but along for the ride, nevertheless. He doesn’t take me far. His truck is farthest from the little party on the creek. He doesn’t open the door though. Just pins me to the truck and lets me slide down, drops one of my legs, and pulls the other high on his hip. He nudges my free leg between his and squeezes me tight.
“You ready? Hold on,” he commands before I can answer.
“What? What are you doing?”
“Trust me,” he says, as he buries his mouth in the hollow of my throat. His hands slide into my back pockets, grasping and squeezing. “We promised. No touching like that. No sex. Even though I can’t wait to be inside you again, this is gonna have to do.” He drops his forehead on mine. Those fiery eyes meet mine, igniting a blaze. “The best non-fu*k fu*k of your life.” And those words douse it with kerosene, creating an inferno. A tremble works its way through me, and I almost come right then.

Book Review: Favorite Places (#2 Troublemaker) by Kelly Gendron

Favorite Places (TroubleMaker, #2)Favorite Places by Kelly Gendron
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

~I received an ARC from Book Enthusiast Promotions in exchange for an honest review~

This was such a quick, cute read about things not always happening the way you want them to, but the result is even better than you can imagine.

The story revolves around Jessina Landi, who is riding the trolley in Vegas and comes across the very handsome and wealthy Chase Lennox. Of course they both have matching suitcases and they accidentally get them switched. But then some jokester decides to have a little fun when they find Chase's important papers and Jess's ID and BOOM I may now pronounce you ... married.

Obviously Chase isn't too happy about this but what can ya do?! I guess be fake married until you realize that the steamy and loving connection you have for this other person is actually pretty stable and real in a court of law.

Overall, I'm giving this book 3.5 STARS out of 5 STARS because it was very romantic, but it was just so predictable. A couple more twists and turns would have helped a lot, but I'm not complaining too much. Definitely read this for the HEA.

Synopsis:
A five-minute trolley ride, one troublemaking luggage, and two stolen identities. Six months later, two strangers discover they’re married. She wants an annulment. He has other plans.
Being illegally hitched is about the only way Chase Lennox would ever be shackled to any woman. But when the multimillionaire playboy finds out he’s married to the woman who caused him to lose the biggest deal of his life, Chase decides before he gives his new wife an annulment, she’s going to help him close the deal he’d lost.
Jessina Landi has a three-foot radius comfort zone. The last man she let into it cost her a lot more than a broken heart. And the huge debt she owes for that trust, well, it’s due. If she takes Chase Lennox's up on his offer, it’s sure to cover the bill.
There’s an annulment waiting at the end of their rainbow… well, that’s if they can get through the next two weeks without consummating the marriage.

Meet the Author:
Kelly resides in a quiet suburb somewhere between Buffalo and Niagara Falls, NY. Her day job? Kelly works in health care representing a group of nursing facilities in the WNY area. She’s been faithfully writing for three years but did write her first book ten years ago. She put it down to raise her son as a single mom and then picked it back up when she and her son finally grew up. That's when she settled into her newly married adult life and started to seriously write again. She's dabbled with Romantic Suspense stories, but recently she's been on a contemporary kick. The recipe for the men in her stories: a dash of bad boy attitude, a cup of strong and confident and, of course, besides being packed with magnificent bodies, and doused with shameless aptitudes, they must have a tender heart you want to rip out of the pages (or your e-Reader) and take to bed with you at night.
